The flowers in my Dad\u2019s garden are amazing.\u00a0I often find them the subject matter of my watercolor paintings. When I am painting something unexpected always appears on the paper. Sometimes the colors I use are light and bright, yet other times the colors are not so cheery. \u00a0This particular piece has many layers, much like my moods.\u00a0\u00a0When the seasons change it definitely affects me, but I find less frequently as I get older.\u00a0Complimentary colors can decorate a flower and look magnificent in nature.\u00a0 Yet with a brush in my hand those colors can quickly become all mixed up and obscure with a dim headiness,\u00a0not individually identifiable, but layered and yet beautiful.\u00a0\u00a0I think this painting reflects the state of mind and the feelings that I experience when there are less hours of sunlight in the day. In this particular painting, the Bearded Irises are downscaled to a much smaller size than I\u00a0normally paint.\u00a0I used significantly more water on this piece, and while exploring the effects of the water it, like an uncontrollable force, took over.\u00a0The flowers in my father\u2019s garden bloom,\u00a0grow, wither, and die.\u00a0 Their colors don\u2019t last long or stay the same, they are ever changing just like me.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Statement: Two things that I love to do are garden and paint.
