Art is a noisy conversation in my head.<br \/>\nArt allows me to look, think, feel, and make connections. Art forces me to create lists.<br \/>\nArt is embracing and inclusive, welcoming thoughts emotions, outrage, stories, TV, NPR, and podcasts.<br \/>\nMy art is mine alone.<br \/>\nI make two and three-dimensional art using textiles and mixed media.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Ordinary material, combined in unusual ways, becomes the motivation for my work.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>I am inspired by rust, tattered fiber, bent wire, laser cutting, digital printing, decaying leaves, and raw linen.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>I use single ply silk thread and foot long steel needles.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span><br \/>\nIn my studio you\u2019ll find table looms, coat racks, and no sorting or organizational method whatsoever.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>With these I explore themes of \u201cHome and Shelter\u201d and how those change as we age and move through life.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span><br \/>\nI take my cues from my thoughts and worries and find direction by exploring both real world events and deeply personal milestones.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Curiosity, material exploration, process, and technique are always driving the concept.<br \/>\nI find my way slowly; two steps forward, one back.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\u00a0\u201cShelter 20\u201d Cotton, wire, paper, lacquer\u00a0 24\u201dH\u00a0 x 12\u201d W x 8\u201d D, 2018 It is a gift to be an artist.
